It is a relatively small community, home to around 2400 people. Collingwood is known for its many avenues of recreation. Not only is it bounded by one of the continent’s largest municipal parks to the north, it is bounded to the south by the Confederation Park and the Confederation Park Golf Course.

Collingwood is a community that has something for everyone. For those with young families, there are plenty of schools in the area, both public and separate schools. The Collingwood Elementary School has a great reputation in many of the surrounding neighborhoods for providing dynamic and engaging learning experiences for young children, giving them a solid foundation as they continue to grow in the education system.

For those who rely on a steady does of recreation or physical exercise, there are plenty of outlets in and around the Collingwood area. Of course, there is eleven square kilometers to play around in to the north, in Nose Hill Park. Featuring 198 wildlife species and miles and miles of trails, Nose Hill is the perfect urban retreat for those who want to be able to walk for a few minutes and instantly feel as if they have left the city life behind them.

The community association in Collingwood is also quite active and hosts a wide variety of programs for both the adult and the youth residents of the neighborhood. There is an indoor and outdoor skating rink used for hockey and figure skating. There is a large baseball diamond, maintained by the city’s only senior slo-pitch team. At the community centre programs range from Girl Guides and Boy Scouts to dog training to karate, and there are also numerous before and after school programs, as well as preschool programs, further underlining the neighborhood’s commitments to serving the needs of families.

Real estate in Collingwood demonstrates a lot of diversity. Although much of the land is taken up by single-family dwellings originally constructed in the early 60s, much of the community has been revitalized and there are new, modern bungalows and single-family residences all over the neighborhood.
